As NaviSite's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Andrew Ruhan provides strong, visible leadership and steers the company's growth toward profitability and industry leadership. Prior to joining NaviSite's Board, he was a founding member and Chief Executive Officer of ClearBlue Technologies, Inc., a company started in 2000 with the purpose of acquiring distressed Internet infrastructure companies. Mr. Ruhan is also Managing Director of Atlantic, LLC, an investment fund company that he started with NaviSite CEO Arthur Becker, which acquired the assets of Colo.com in and purchased the assets of PSINet Europe, re-establishing that company as an Internet Infrastructure and Services leader in the European Union. From 1998 through 2000, Mr. Ruhan was Chief Executive of Global Switch, the world's largest carrier-neutral colocation company. He co-founded Global Switch in 1998 with his brother, Gabriel Ruhan, and Simon Cooper. Under his leadership the company grew to 12 facilities in 9 countries, covering 3.7 million square feet. Mr. Ruhan has a strong background in property and telecommunications, with a highly successful history of entrepreneurship and business development in the commercial property sector. He founded the Kingspark Group in the United Kingdom in 1993, together with three partners, and was responsible for corporate acquisitions and development. The company became the largest commercial property provider in the UK over the following five years and was sold to Prologis in 1998. In 2001, Mr. Ruhan was named regional winner of the prestigious Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
As the chief executive officer (CEO) and a member of the NaviSite Board of Directors, Arthur Becker provides day-to-day leadership to the companys senior management and is personally involved in the strategy, financing and merger and acquisition (M&A) activities of the company. Mr. Becker was a founding investor and member of the Board of Directors of ClearBlue Technologies, Inc., a company started in 2001 with the purpose of acquiring distressed Internet infrastructure companies. He is also co-founder of Atlantic, LLC, an investment fund company he started with NaviSite Chairman Andy Ruhan, which acquired the data center assets of Colo.com in 2001. Mr. Becker comes to NaviSite with experience as founder and managing member of several technology and investment companies, including Impower, a London-based provider of technology consulting services to government; Advance Partners, LLC, which provided financial advisory services to Cendent Corporation and Global Switch in the UK; and Madison Technology, LLC, a New York-based technology investment firm. From 1987 through 1993, Mr. Becker served as a director with Bear Stearns & Company (BSC-NYSE), where he led the successful proxy contest for control of ProGroup, Inc., a leading golf equipment and apparel manufacturer. Prior to that, he held various positions from managing partner to owner of a number of real estate development companies.
Mr. James Dennedy was appointed to NaviSites Board of Directors on January 27, 2003. Mr. Dennedy is President and CEO of Engyro Corporation. He is responsible for strategic direction, corporate and business development. Prior to his role with Engyro, Mr. Dennedy served as Managing Partner of Mitchell-Wright, LLC, a capital management and corporate development company making equity investments and buyouts on behalf of itself and its investors in the enterprise software industry. Prior to his affiliation with Mitchell-Wright, Mr. Dennedy served as President, divine Managed Services; Senior VP of Mergers and Acquisitions, divine, Inc.; Executive VP Venture Capital and Private Equity, marchFIRST, Inc. Mr. Dennedy has more than fifteen years of leadership experience in corporate development, corporate finance with public and private companies in the US and Europe, and strategic direction. Mr. Dennedy also serves on the Board of Directors of Abridean, Inc., an enterprise software company providing software provisioning and identity management solutions. Mr. Dennedy earned a BS in Economics from the United States Air Force Academy, an MA in Economics from the University of Colorado, and an MBA from Ohio State University. In support of community activities, Mr. Dennedy serves on the Executive Board of the Economics Department and MIS Department, Williams College of Business, Xavier University.
Thomas R. Evans is currently the President & Chief Executive Officer of Bankrate, Inc. From 1999-2002, Mr. Evans served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Official Payments Corp. Prior to that, Mr. Evans was the President and Chief Executive Officer of GeoCities, Inc. Before joining GeoCities in 1998, Mr. Evans spent 20 years in the magazine publishing business, last serving as President and Publisher of the magazine group owned by Mortimer Zuckerman, consisting of U.S. News & World Report, The Atlantic Monthly and Fast Company.
Mr. Schwartz is CEO of The Wenham Group, LLC, a private equity firm that invests in middle market companies. He also serves as CEO of Bridgehouse Marine Ltd., a company that provides offshore marine engineering services through its operating subsidiaries. Mr. Schwartz previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Restructuring Officer of Genuity, Inc. Prior to joining Genuity, Mr. Schwartz was a Partner with Choate Hall & Stewart, where he specialized in mergers, acquisitions, buyouts and venture capital transactions.
